Congratulations to Tayler Scory who has been awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Graduate (Master’s) Scholarships in the amount of $7200.
Tayler is in her first year of her MSc degree program in statistics at the University of Calgary. She is supervised by Dr. Karen Kopciuk and co-supervised by Dr. Xuewen Lu.
In her thesis, Tayler is developing a comprehensive genetic risk estimation model for Lynch Syndrome families that accounts for family screening history, tumor molecular marker results and occurrence of extra-colonic LS cancers.
She is also developing risk estimation models for Type X families, where multiple low penetrant genes are responsible for their high risk of colorectal cancer. These new genetic risk models will improve disease gene carrier prediction that can better identify individuals diagnosed with an incident colon cancer that should be referred for genetic testing.
Best wishes Tayler on your continued success in your graduate studies.
