Longlong Huang, a doctoral student in statistics at the University of Calgary who is supervised by Dr. Xuewen Lu and Dr. Karen A. Kopciuk was awarded Best Oral Student Research Presentation at the annual meeting of the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) meeting at Brock University last week. Her talk was entitled “A Group Bridge Approach for Component Selection in Nonparametric Accelerated Failure Time Additive Regression Models.” The award recognizes both the quality of the student’s research as well as the presentation of the work Longlong also received two travel awards (SSC Student Travel grant and Faculty of Graduate Studies Travel Award) to attend and present her research at this conference. Money very well spent!
