Dr. Miranda Fidler-Benaoudia was awarded the Department of Oncology’s Young Investigator Award for 2020 at this year’s virtual event held on April 22nd, 2021. Miranda’s outstanding achievements in the first two years of her career with CEPR/Department of Oncology were recognized. She has rapidly established a strong program of research in childhood/adolescent and young adult cancers in Alberta supported by several research grants. These include a CIHR Early Career Award, grants from the Department of Oncology, Alberta Cancer Foundation, Kids Cancer Care Foundation and two CIHR project grants. In total, she has been awarded >$1.8M in competitive grants since starting her career here in October 2018. Miranda has also been very successful in disseminating her research through high impact journals and at prestigious research conferences. Besides her research activities, Miranda has co-led the Fundamentals of Epidemiology course in the Department of Community Health Sciences for the past two years. It is clear that she is a rising star who will continue to bring success to all activities and endeavors she pursues. We are delighted that she has received this award as it recognizes her achievements to date and her future potential.
