On May 9th, 2021, Nicole Slot celebrated 25 years of service with ACB/AHS and we would like to recognize her multiple contributions to the research programs of several Scientists in our department. Nicole first started working as an interviewer for the Prostate Cancer Case-control Study where her kind, empathetic and non-judgmental nature proved to be an outstanding asset in obtaining in-depth interviews from our study participants. She then transitioned to the Endometrial Cancer Case-control and subsequently Cohort Study continuing doing interviews and quality control work. Nicole was the Study Coordinator for the Validation and Reliability Study for the Past Year Total Physical Activity Questionnaire development where her remarkable memory of the study participants and their personal lives was particularly appreciated as we needed to keep them engaged for the year-long study. Nicole proved to be extremely versatile in her skills as she became an Exercise Trainer for the Breast Cancer and Exercise Trial (BETA) where her back-ground as a Team Canada speed skater and years of personal experience as an athlete where well employed. Nicole has also worked for several of the other projects in the department including the Breast Cancer to Bone Metastases (B2B) study, the Ovarian Cancer in Alberta and BC (OVAL-BC) project, occupation-al cancer studies and most recently as the study coordinator of the Population-Based Study of Ketorolac and Ovarian Cancer Survival (KOCA Study) and the Participating in Tai Chi to Reduce Anxiety and Keep up Physical Function: Implementing a Rehabilitation Intervention for Radical Prostatectomy (PEAK-RP) study. During the past 25 years, Nicole has experienced many life events including getting married and having two daughters. She is a trusted, dedicated, highly capable and valued member of our department. We thank her for her commitment to our research studies and celebrate this milestone with her.
