The Alberta Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivor Study is a population-based, retrospective cohort study that includes all individuals that were diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15 and 39 years in Alberta from 1983 to 2017. The cohort includes nearly 25,000 adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors, all of whom will be anonymously followed up over time by linking to administrative health databases. Through this data linkage, we will be able to assess the long-term healthcare needs and outcomes following cancer in this young population, which will inform survivors, caregivers, health professional and policymakers.
