There are inherent limitations of self-report data associated with measurement error. This project uses novel and innovative methods to estimate the attenuation of the association between self-reported physical activity and cancer risk associated with measurement error in the UK Biobank, a large prospective cohort study of over 500,000 men and women. This research will improve the precision of estimates of the cancer burden attributable to physical inactivity. Such evidence is needed to persuade governments and cancer control agencies to prioritize and increase investment in physical activity promotion for cancer prevention.
