Pediatric cancer patients often require intensive treatment from oncology specialists at one of 17 dedicated pediatric hospitals and clinical facilities. These centers are typically located in large urban regions, creating unique challenges for patients and families that must travel far distances to receive their cancer treatment. As survivors of childhood cancer are recommended to be followed up with for the remainder of their lives at long-term survivor clinics, this study will estimate distances and time travelled in over 20,000 pediatric cancer patients across Canada to understand how differences in travel times and distances are associated with cancer care and outcomes.
