Although oncofertility has recently been established as a priority component of cancer care in Canada, and fertility counselling is recommended as standard cancer care for adolescents and young adults (AYAs), it is unclear how often these services are used in Alberta and what factors influence this decision. AYA cancer survivors are expected to live 50-60 years beyond their diagnosis and treatment, experiencing many more years of life affected by cancer compared to older adults. Evidence suggests that AYAs experience lower pregnancy and birth rates, compared to healthy controls. Through this study, we will be investigating the impact of cancer and its treatment during adolescence and young adulthood on reproductive care, health and outcomes.
